Wash cod remove fins.
Cut cod into 3 to 4-inches (7.6 to 10-cm) thick steaks.
Wash and then boil potatoes into hard-boiling water.
Poach cod into boiling water, along with a little of the chopped onion salt and pepper.
Lightly blanch and then strain salt pork cubes pour milk all over.
Into a fry pan, melt shortening just brown salt pork cubes.
Immediately add remaining chopped onion cook until golden brown.
Remove skin and bones from cod steak.
Cut potatoes into large cubes.
Mix together cod and potato cubes salt and pepper, to taste.
Serve 1 cod steaks per serving, along with potato cubes and sprinkled all over with a little salt pork/onion mixture, into small individual bowls.
